I ain’t gonna lie: Getting to interview Mark Arm of Mudhoney for PAPER was a pretty big thrill. My high school garage band, Mall Security, was basically a terrible Mudhoney cover band. You can check out the interview here.

And here’s a bonus Mudhoney anecdote for you: When I was 16, me and the Mall Security dudes went to see Mudhoney play at the Cactus Club in San Jose. Before the show, we were playing foosball and Matt Lukin, Mudhoney’s bass player, walked up to the table with a beer in hand. He proceeded to shove napkins in both the goals and grunted, “Unlimited play.” Then he walked away. It was maybe the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.

- I was standing next to a couple who were making out for about half an hour at UCBT at around 4:30 am on Saturday. Eventually, some random dude walked up to them and said the above quote to the woman, which was one of the funniest things I heard at the Marathon.

HBO is teaming with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Gary Sanchez and actress Lizzy Caplan to develop a comedy series project based on actress/writer Julie Klausner’s memoir I Don’t Care About Your Band. The project is eyed as a potential starring vehicle for Caplan, who is coming off Starz’s cult comedy series Party Down. The book, a gritty but comedic look at what it’s like to navigate the dating world in your 20s, chronicles Klausner’s experiences from her preadolescent sexual awakenings through the unsavory details of sleeping with a gallery of losers throughout her 20s.

Moneyball Cattle Call Looks Like A Website Created In 1997
Someone clearly hasn’t read Moneyball, the book or the script for the upcoming movie, but that didn’t stop them from putting together a website calling for extras that looks like it’s hosted on Geocities when MC Hammer wore parachute pants.

“Brad Pitt is MONEYBALL” (!!!) This cattle call website is hilarious. And don’t most people realize that because Brad Pitt is playing Billy Beane he won’t be in the scenes at the Coliseum? Actually, now that I think about it, if I was living in the Bay Area, I would most definitely be there every day for this circus.
